Small Vintage Berber Taznakth Rug MWH023 164 x 94 cm

£495.00

Taznakht rugs come from the Taznakht region in the Ouarzazate province of southern Morocco, an area nestled between the High Atlas Mountains and the edge of the Sahara. Woven by Amazigh (Berber) artisans, these rugs reflect the desert landscape in their warm, earthy tones and geometric motifs. Traditionally crafted by women using natural wool and plant-based dyes, Taznakht rugs are known for their fine knotting, detailed patterns, and vibrant colour combinations, often featuring saffron yellows, deep reds, and bold blacks. Rich in symbolism and technique, they embody centuries of cultural heritage and artisanal skill.

One Of A Kind Handwoven Rug

Origin : Atlas Mountains, Morocco

Pile : Wool

Warp : Cotton

Dimensions

164 × 94 cm

Thickness approx. : 10 mm

This rug may contain minor imperfections and slight signs of wear and tear which reflects it’s vintage provenance. In our view these add to the charm and authenticity of this piece much like distress marks on a piece of antique furniture do.
